The World Social Forum (WSF) is a global beacon of hope, born in response to the adverse effects of neoliberalism. Established in 2001, WSF is a platform for open dialogue, democratic debates, and the pursuit of alternatives to neoliberal economic policies. In 2024, Nepal hosts WSF, facilitated by the NGO Federation of Nepal (NFN), which also functioning WSF Secretariat at NFN.
Responding to the global trend of shrinking civic space, particularly in Asia, the World Civic Space Assembly 2024 provides a critical platform for civil society organizations, activists, and human rights defenders. The assembly aims to collectively understand the challenges faced by civic space, develop strategies to strengthen it, and foster collaboration among participants. Expect a diverse array of attendees, including civil society organizations, human rights defenders, activists, academics, journalists, policymakers, and international representatives, all converging on February 16-17, 2024. During the World Civic Space Assembly 2024, four major thematic discussions will be held: a) World Civic Space 2) Disaster risk reduction and management 3) Climate justice and climate change adaptation 4) Universal social protection.
