DWO Dang District Branch

DWO Dang district branch office is one of the oldest and strongest district in terms of project implementation and organizational strength. It has worked and has been working to eradicate caste discrimination and extreme poverty and promote inclusive education in the Dang district. It has outstanding experience particularly in the field of education, child rights, local governance and Dalit empowerment. It has worked and has been working with International NGOs such as DANIDA, Swiss Academy for Development and UNHCR Nepal and local government agencies such as District Education Office, District Development Committee etc . Currently, DWO Dang executive committee is Mr. Ishwori Bishwakarm. It has several branch office and general members.

Completed Education To identify district level issues of Dalits to be advocated and initiate advocacy campaign, and to conduct a review, lobbying meeting, interaction to influence local government to hold accountable to Dalit community.

Completed Economic Empowerment To build capacity, provide training, scholarship projects, and literacy classes for the improvement of Dalit standards of living.

Dalit Awaaj Radio Program

Completed Advocacy Raise awareness of Dalit issues for both Dalits and non-Dalits alike.

Capacity Building Program

Completed Advocacy This project promotes consciousness for the social justice and dignity of Dalits.

Support person without Citizenship certificate project

Ongoing Advocacy Make it easier for 10,000 Dalit people in the West of Nepal to get their citizenship cards by the end of 2015.

Move 4 New Horizons: A holistic education programme for disadvantaged children in Nepal-Second Project Phase

Ongoing Education Increase the education level for children and youth through three program groups: ages 3-5, 6-12, and 15-22, to prepare them for entry to school, assist them in transitioning to formal education, and give them vocational training, respectively.

Move 4 New Horizons: A holistic education programme for disadvantaged children in Nepal-First Project Phase

Completed Education Promote education and support schools in order to enroll and keep disadvantaged children in school.
