About Project

The agendas of this project had the three components as: ending caste discrimination, improving Dalits status in civil society and drawing the attention of the donors to recognize this problem as an important one. Therefore, it worked to increase Dalit participation in socio-economic and political processes and enable to define and achieve the core Dalit agenda of empowerment and policy for institutional change. The projects four main outputs are: i) It strengthened the capability of Nepals national DNGOs to run programs themselves, ii) It provided improved support to local DNGOs, iii) It involved in the activities to strengthen the national and local DNGOs, and iv) it supported a number of Dalit advocacy, empowerment, and inclusion programs. Also, many projects activities were designed to increase contact and coordination between central and local Dalit organizations. One important aspect of this project was sharing of lessons learned by the national DNGOs from their implementing local activities with national level advocacy and educational programs. With an aim to empower Dalit economically and socially DWO district branch offices launched this program in their own initiatives while the Central office provided technical and financial support.
