About Project

Dalit Welfare Organization District Branch Office, Surkhet implemented Return and Reintegration project in partnership with IRC in Bhitraghatgaun, Tatapani, Lekhparajul, Kalyan and Neta VDC of Surkhet District, A Mid-Western Region of Nepal. The major objective of project was to support children of mid-west of Nepal who have either been directly involved in or indirectly affected by Nepal's internal conflict. Major activities are as follows: • Income generation support for those family who's children are unable to continue at school due to various reason • Reintegration to formal school • Sensitization • Child rights and peace building Led by DWO and supported by International Rescue Committee (IRC), the program Return and Reintegration of Children Affected by Armed Conflict is functional to rehabilitate and reintegrate children affected in armed conflict in Surkhet, Bardiya, Dailekha and Jajarkot. The program has centered on children below 18 years who directly involved in armed conflict and who were affected by armed conflict and their families. To carry out the program, DWO focused on district level orientation to stakeholders, registration of conflict affected children and their reintegration providing them with education formal and non-formal - and mobilization of child clubs, youth clubs, women groups and consumers committee for peace building. The program, thus, has been milestone for the process of sustainable peace and development in the period after long violent conflict.
