About Project

Income generation programs were conducted in 14 community organizations in the Ranibas VDC and an additional 35 of the Ranchuri VDC. The Ranibas VDC also conducted record keeping of children of less than 2 years and pregnant women in the VDC. Those numbers were reported to a counsellor who then provided health support to the VDC. Part of the program involved a 7 day nutrition training to increase capacity of program staff who then passed their knowledge along to the VDCs for improving child and maternal health. The program’s staff ran capacity building discussions in 3 VDC networks to increase their levels of communication and problem solving. Program facilitators also supported the VDCs with accounting management and meeting facilitation. Moving forward, the program wishes to increase mobilization of local resources for entrepreneurs to use for starting businesses. Program staff would also like to ensure there is one program technician in each VDC so the programs are maintained and continued beyond DWO’s involvement. Finally, the VDC communities are interested in gaining access to animal insurance which would further improve the quality of life of the small farmers in the area.
