About Project

The major outcomes of this program are: After the discussion with CPN-UML discipline coordinator, they created a rule not to practice untouchability in their party. We talked with the spokesperson of parties that they should include Dalit Candidates in their ministry during the four parties’ government. Peoples of Kavre district got united and established DWO district office at Kavre through the influence of this radio program. Since the Radio station is famous within the Newar community it is helpful to address the discrimination within Newar community in Kathmandu Valley. Furthermore this radio program DWO conducted different programs through radio broadcasting regarding the issues on Dalit Reservation, Land Rights, Education, Dalit Commission, Affirmative Action, issues of Terai Dalits, Dalit Rcruitment, SAARC Dalit Forum, Case Studies of the districts, Poverty Alleviation Program and Child Education. It broadcasted altogether 43 programs in 2006. The programs included news, vox pops, and reports, interviews, dramas, awareness raising songs with music etc. Within this year DWO broadcasted 127 news, 134 vox pops, 35 Sectoral Report Page 12 reports, 8 profiles, 38 interviews with various dignitaries and 104 other activities such as songs. As Nepal is covered with nearly 4000 VDCs most of the remote areas do not have the access to T.V. Channel. So, the radio program has become most effective to sensitize villagers.
